Stained Glass Studio Β· Practical guide

Print a stained glass pattern at actual size

The canvas zoom and your screen size do not control the size of the printed pattern. Start with the physical dimensions stored in the project.

Start from a description, photo or drawing in the studio. AI generation uses credits.

1. Set the dimensions in the studio

Enter the intended width in millimeters. The height follows the artwork proportions. Check the displayed dimensions before exporting, especially if the design came from an image without a known physical scale.

2. Export the cutting pattern

Open Make and choose the PDF export for a tiled full-size pattern. Keep the editable SVG separately so future changes do not require tracing the printout. Piece numbering on a cutting export helps organize the work even when you hide numbers on the editing canvas.

3. Disable printer scaling

Select Actual size or 100% in the print dialog. Do not use Fit to page: it can change the dimensions. Print one sheet first and measure a known distance before printing the full set. Printer margins and driver settings can affect the result.

4. Assemble and check the sheets

Use the tile overlap and shared lines to align adjoining pages. Tape the sheets without stretching or skewing them, then measure the full width and height. Keep an uncut master copy for assembly and mark any changes consistently on the working copy.

Make the pattern your own

Create a first version, refine the curves and pieces, then prepare your full-size template.
